Swadesi Way’s Barley Suji
Swadesi Way’s Barley Suji is a coarse semolina made from naturally grown Jau (barley) sourced directly from Peepli village, Sikar district, Rajasthan. Carefully stone-ground to preserve its natural fibre, beta-glucan, B vitamins, and minerals like selenium and magnesium.
This wholesome barley suji is easy to cook and incredibly versatile. Perfect for porridge, upma, idlis, or soups, it provides a nourishing, delicious meal for everyday nutrition and conscious eating.
Why Choose Barley Suji?
Vs. Regular Wheat Suji
Barley Suji naturally has a higher fibre-to-carb ratio, giving you more fibre, slower energy release, and keeping you full for longer.
Barley Suji can have up to 10-12 g fibre, compared to wheat suji’s 2–3 g per 10 g.
Vs. Market Suji
Most market suji is polished and bleached to appear ultra-white, stripping away nutrients. Swadesi Way Barley Suji is unpolished and unbleached, keeping its natural light cream hue so you enjoy the real taste, higher fibre, and better nutrition.
🚜 Farm to Plate Journey
The barley used in our sooji is grown by Ram Singh Ji, from Peepli village, Sikar, Rajasthan. Cultivated using time-tested, natural methods with no chemical inputs, the grains are sun-dried and hand-cleaned at the farm.
After harvesting, the barley is dehulled at the farm and stored carefully. The dehulling process naturally removes the ~60% outer layer. The grains are then stone-ground, naturally separating them into three parts – Daliya, Suji, and Flour with no heat damage. At last, it is sieved manually to remove any remaining coarse particles, ensuring an even, wholesome texture.
Unlike market suji, which is polished and bleached to look ultra-white, our barley suji is unpolished, retaining its natural cream hue, authentic taste and more fibre content.
All processing is done thoughtfully by the team at Banyan Roots, Udaipur, preserving the wholesome quality of every grain.
